For years, Hyatt has been a popular choice for couples who wish to tie the knot. We spoke to a few couples to understand what goes behind curating the bespoke wedding of their dreams at the luxury hotel

It was at a train station in Chicago when Praveen Chand Ravipalli first met Esha Gulati and this symbol of their love [a model train] still stands in their living room today. They fell in love and shortly after decided on spending the rest of their lives together. But before they said ‘I do’, the Indian-origin couple were keen on tying the knot keeping their respective North Indian and South Indian heritage intact. That’s what led them to plan a wedding of two states at at a Hyatt property in Delhi.

With a total of 43 properties around the country, Hyatt hotels have realised the need for couples to be more ‘individualistic’. Their latest campaign #PerfectlyYours helps couples curate the perfect celebrations to commemorate their big days — from the perfect proposal package to that sustainable step down the aisle. From having a dedicated ‘wedding studio’ where families can envisage the event to planning grand weddings at gorgeous locations (mountains and beachside alike) — Hyatt hotels do it all.

And for Gulati, it was the little things that helped her pick Andaz in Delhi for her wedding on 24 October 2021 – like the welcome gift basket that showcased their journey from Vizag to Chicago. “I was planning a wedding in a different continent and was unable to visit it much before D-day,” she says, adding, “The Andaz team was accommodating and prompt with replying to food menu queries and guest lists.”

Location, location, location

Location was paramount for Gulati and Ravipalli who were planning their wedding at a time when government mandates curtailed the guestlist to 150 people. Moreover, being in the middle of the pandemic, the couple wanted to house all their events under one roof, and Andaz, which is close to the airport, provided a unique set-up for each of their wedding celebrations.

Through thick and thin

“Andaz checked all the boxes on my list — open spaces, greenery, modern designs and the food was the best,” begins Havisha Mehta, an event stylist, who met her husband, Vedang Patel, in Boston. She was clear about what she wanted from her wedding – a big banquet.

“We had different cuisines from around the world and a couple of live food counters too. The spread was excellent — Asian, Teppanyaki, Indian, Rajasthani, among others,” Mehta says. Neelima Sanghavi, Mehta’s elder sister chimes in, “Any Hyatt property has the option of switching between two or more venues for your events.”

Not surprisingly then, Sanghavi too was married at a Hyatt property, three years before Mehta, in 2016. “Ours was a demonetisation wedding,” chortles Sanghavi. “I am from Delhi and my husband is from Mumbai so we wanted our wedding to have common ground. Grand Hyatt Goa fit in well as they have a beach set up and a sumptuous banquet,” she says.

For yet another celebrity couple who tied the knot at the prestigious Grand Hyatt Mumbai in December 2021, it was all about the location. Actress Ankita Lokhande Jain and her husband Vicky Jain tell CNT, “Grand Hyatt Mumbai was convenient for everyone as it is centrally located in Mumbai for all our guests to travel from the airport and South Bombay and the suburbs.”

“We had a 3-day packed event, ranging from the Mehndi, the Sangeet, and the wedding followed by the reception at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai,” the couple says, adding, “Everything was very grand and luxurious. We had two detailed and personalised menu curations, where the chefs allowed us multiple tastings and we were happy with the final spread. Grand Hyatt Mumbai made sure that all our wishes were fulfilled.”

Jab we met

Friends from college, Tanya Chowhan and Gaurav Ranka, reconnected at a party during the pandemic. What followed next was a quiet proposal over a cup of chai and a promise to be together forever. The duo wanted the beginning of their new chapter to be in a calm and serene atmosphere and that’s how they decided on the ‘city of love’ — Dehradun. “Hyatt Regency Dehradun was just the property we were looking for: located among the hills, multiple outdoor lawns overlooking the valleys and greens all around,” says Chowhan.

Through the profusion of multicuisine flavours, suffice it to say, Hyatt has been consistent in paying heed to the little things that make every wedding a memorable affair. With its promise of ‘happily ever after’, Hyatt creates nothing short of magical unions. To know more about having your own dream wedding at Hyatt, click here.
